There are more than 25 different species and thousands of hybrids ... These are generally divided into 13 DIVISIONS ... These are:
Source: Daffodils: Introduction .. click here ...

Div 1: Trumpet Daffodils .. There is one large blossom per stem and the trumpet is exceptionally long. Specifically, the length of the trumpet is equal to the length of the petals, or longer.
An example is this Narcissus 'Golden Harvest' ...

Division 2: Long Cup Daffodils ... The cup/trumpet isn't as long as that of Division 1 [Trumpet Daffodils] but it is longer than the cup of Division 3 Daffodils [Short Cup Daffodils] ..
An example is this Narcissus 'Accent' ...

Div 3: Short Cup Daffodils .. The cups/ trumpets are relatively small and shallow. Specifically, Short Cup Daffodils are defined as having a cup whose length is equal to or less than one third the height of the surrounding petals.
An example is this Narcissus 'Seagull' ...

Div 4: Double Daffodils ... This group consists of daffodils with extra petals ... sometimes a daffodil may have a doubled trumpet .. and sometimes doubles of both. As a result, Double Daffodils may resemble carnations or even gardenias rather than daffodils.
An example is this Narcissus 'Acropolis' ...

Div 5: Triandrus Daffodils ... These are normally floriferous, producing more than one blossom per stem. The blossoms are somewhat pendant, i.e. the heads nod or droop slightly. Also, the petals are slightly reflexed /swept-back. With all of these features, Triandrus Daffodils are often said to resemble fuschias.
An example is this Narcissus 'Lemon Drops' ...

Div 6: Cyclamineus Daffodils ... These have blossoms with a straight slender trumpet and flared-back / reflexed petals. Sometimes the petals are bent back so far back that the flower looks windswept.
An exapmle is this Nacissus 'Febuary Gold' ...

Div 7: Jonquilla / Apodanthus Daffodils ... The daffodils of this group are noted primarily for their scent .. These daffodils are also floriferous, normally produce more than one flower per stem.
An example is this Narcissus jonquils var 'henriquesii' ...

Div 8: Tazettas Daffodils .. .. Tazettas are floriferous or bunch flowering daffodils: they produce several blossoms per stem, at a minimum three or four. These are also called Paperwhites ...
An example is this Narcissus 'Minnow' ...

Div 9: Poeticus Daffodils ... All of the daffodils in this division have large white petals with small, dainty cups in contrasting colours ..
These bloom late in the season ..
An example is this Narcissus 'Pheasant's Eye' ...

Div 10: Bulbocodium Hybrids ... All of the varieties in this division are hybrids derived from the wild species Narcissus bulbocodium. This species of daffodil looks something like an old fashioned megaphone, since the petals are so tiny that they are insignificant by comparison to the trumpet ...
An example is this Narcissus bulbocodium 'Golden Bells' ...

Div 11: Split-Corona Daffodils ... In this group of daffodils, the cup is split for at least one-half its length, creating an open, up-facing blossom, instead of the typical trumpet. As a result, many of the flowers look more like a Hibiscus than they do a daffodil.
An example is this Narcissus 'Mary Gay Lirette' ..
Div 12: Miscellaneous Daffodils ... This is where the cultivated varieties that don't fit into any other division ...
Div 13: Species Daffodils ... This division contains different daffodil species in their wild forms and hybrid daffodils derived therefrom..
